The Zoo

Henry's never been to the zoo before, so while we were in Chicago we thought we'd take advantage and go to Lincoln Park Zoo (the nearest zoo to us is in Denver). It wasn't nearly as nice as it was during the rest of our trip, but Henry, Jamie, Nana, and I braved the weather and went to see some animals.

Despite Henry's propensity for lion and tiger noises, he wasn't terribly interested in them. We checked out a lot of different animals, but Henry seemed to be more interested in the other kids for the most part.

Our chariot for the day.

Henry's favorite animal of the day was probably the giraffes. This despite the obvious drawback that they don't make any noise to imitate.

Having a good time with mom.

We checked out the fish in the crocodile exhibit. Unfortunately, a lot of the animals were not on display that day including the polar bears and otters. Lincoln Park doesn't have any elephants either, which are Henry's favorite, so I think we'll be heading to the Denver Zoo this summer after all.

Henry was pretty into the meerkats. They run around and wrestle with each other a lot, plus we could get pretty close to them.

The gorillas were a pretty big hit too. Henry watched them in much the same way that he watches other kids, just kind of checking out what they're doing. This one seemed like she was eating ants.
