Around Town this Summer

These are just some pictures from around town this summer.  I'm beginning to realize we just haven't been taking a lot of pictures this year, so I'm afraid there are some gaps in the story.  Here's what we have though.

We went to the fountains downtown a few times this summer.  This was a day when I picked Henry up early and we met Mom downtown for dinner.

The moment of realization...

Direct hit!

We went to watch the local baseball team a few times.  It's great for kids because they have all of the music, hot dogs, and mascots, just like the big leagues, but there are about 150 spectators.  So Henry got to hang out with Slyder the Fox, the mascot, for quite a while.  He also hung out under the stands.

Riding through puddles.  Always fun, never gets old.

Like any three year old, Henry spends a lot of time in the sandbox.  And his parents spend a lot of time cleaning up the sand he brings into the house.  After announcing that there was 'a lot of sand in my shoes', Henry promptly poured it out.  Onto the floor.  This is from one shoe.  Impressive collection, I have to admit.

Henry and Dad went to get gelato one day when it was hot.  As you can see, Henry was pretty excited about his.

And we spent a day at New West Fest.  Henry rode the 'train' about a dozen times.

They also had this carosel with cool cars.  Henry mostly rode in the jeep, but he liked the dune buggy too.

They also have a music center at New West Fest to introduce kids to different kinds of music and instruments (it's actually a music festival, though you'd never know it from the pictures on our blog...).  Here he's testing out this cello as a percusive instrument.  The concept of drawing the bow across the strings required a little too much patience for a three year old at a fair.

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge tours Colorado every year and we sort of accidentally caught it in Boulder (more like, it caught us - we couldn't get across the street since it was blocked off so we decided to get out of the car and watch).  Henry was surprisingly interested considering it's a lot of waiting around to watch a few bike riders go by very, very fast.
